Family History

George Gersham Buxton was born in 1889 the son of Walter a hotel proprietor and Laura Buxton née Cupit and the brother of Sarah, Hilda, Jack, Walter and Arthur Buxton. Walter Buxton was born in 1866 at Huthwaite, Laura Cupit was born in 1867 at Sutton in Ashfield, married in 1886 their marriage was recorded in the Nottingham registration district, they had 7 children.In 1911 the family lived at the Newcastle Arms Inn 19 King Street Sutton in Ashfield Nottinghamshire.

Military History

Private George Gersham Buxton enlisted at Derby he went to France on 8th September 1914 and was killed in action, during a German attack at Ennetteres, France, on 20th October 1914. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium. Panel 7.
