Family History

He was the husband of Clara (née Gregory) Foster, the step father of Olive Gregory Foster (b.1898) and the father of Doris (b.1902) and Ivy (b.1904) Foster. In 1901, the family lived at 5, Queen Street Place, and in 1911 at 27, Frederick Street (both Mansfield, Nottinghamshire).

Military History

He enlisted at Mansfield 15/5/1915 standing 5' 5" and weighing 127 lbs. He was posted 29/5/1915 and served in the UK until 5/3/1916 when he went to France. With effect from 29/1/1917, Clara was awarded a weekly pension of 18/6d for herself and two children.
