Charles Flecknoe was born in 1880 at Nottingham and was the son of Charles a frame work knitter and Kate Flecknoe of Fyne Street, Nottingham. Charles Flecknoe married his wife Minnie Joynes (born 24th September 1878 ) in 1900 at Nottingham they lived at 107 Miall Street, Faraday Road, Radford, they had the following children, Mary Alice born 31st January 1901, Kathleen Lilian born 16th September 1910, Minnie Eileen born 25th January 1913 and Charles William born 9th April 1915. In 1901, they lived at 11 Grafton Street, Ilkeston Road, Nottingham and are shown as Charles Flecknoe 21 yrs a frame work knitter, he is living with his wife Minnie 22 yrs and their daughter Mary A 2 months of age the family are living with his mother in law Mary Ann Morley 61 yrs a widow. In the 1911 census he and his family are living at Balbriggan, Dublin and are shown as Charles Flecknoe 32 yrs he is living with his wife Minnie 32 yrs and their children, Mary Alice 10 yrs and Kathleen Lillian 1 year of age. Following his death his widow Minnie was awarded a pension of 25 shillings a week which commenced on 20th November 1916.
Lance Corporal Charles Flecknoe enlisted at Dublin, he initially served with the service number 14431 in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. He was serving with the 8th battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he died of gas poisoning on 29th April 1916 and is buried at Vermelles British Cemetery, France.
