Family History

Born 1891 at Caythorpe, Frederick was one of three sons (Frederick, Harry and Percy) and one daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Beecroft. In 1901 the family were living on Town Street, Lambley but by 1911 they had moved to Priory Cottage in Gedling. In 1915 he married Ada Emery, and her address was given as 76, Salisbury St., Nottingham on the CWWG website.

Military History

Served in the 12th Battalion of the Middlesex Regiment according to the CWWG but the Gedling War Memorial states 1st Battalion. He is buried in the Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuille, France. He was eligible for the Victory and British War medals.

Nottingham Post notice (abridged) 29 September 1917: 'Beecroft. Killed in action, Private Frederick Beecroft, Middlesex Regiment, age 26, husband of Ada Beecroft (nee Emery). Son of Frederick Beecroft of Gedling, age 25. Father, sister, brothers Harry, Percy.'
