Frank Goodwin Wootton was born on 9th March 1898 at Nottingham and was the son of William a gardener and Annie Wootton née Goodwin of 7 Ruskin Street, Radford, Nottingham. His father William was born in 1860 at Wysall, his mother Annie Goodwin was born in 1863 at Colleyweston, Northamptonshire, they were married on 12th June 1881 at the parish church in Sneinton and went on to have 5 children, John b1881 Nottingham Arthur b1883 Alvaston, Derbyshire, Annie b1886 Alvaston, Mary Ellen b1981 Alvaston and Frank Goodwin b1898 Radford. In the 1911 census the family lived at 7 Ruskin Street Old Radford Nottingham and were shown as William 51 yrs a gardener he is living with his wife Annie 48 yrs and their children, Annie Elizabeth 25 yrs a blouse hand, Mary Ellen 20 yrs a blouse hand and Frank Goodwin 13 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Private Frank Goodwin Wootton enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 8858 in the Army Veterinary Corps. He landed in France on 26th June 1915 and he was killed in Italy during a patrol on 15th June 1918. He is buried at Granezza British Cemetery, Italy
