Family History

John White was born in 1888 at Nottingham he married Florence Linney (born 1st June 1895 ) on 20th September 1913 at All Souls Church, Radford, Nottingham, they had a son Jarvis John White born 29thMay 1914. Commencing 26th April 1915 his widow was awarded a pension of 15 shillings and 6 pence a week. His widow remarried on 9th December 1915 to Frederick Upton a serving soldier.

Military History

Corporal John White enlisted at Nottingham on 23rd March 1908, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he landed in France on 8th September 1914, He was admitted 30th September 1914 to No.10 General Hospital, Rouen with Tetanus and Shell Wound to right thigh, which went septic, Tetanus began 3rd October 1914 he was sent to tetanus ward for observation 4th October 1914, he died on 7th October 1914.and is buried at St Nazarie Cemetery, France
