Family History

John Wright was born in 1893 at Radford and was the son of George a lace maker and Annie Wright née Martin of 6 Leopold Street, Radford, Nottingham. His father George was born in 1861 at Radford, his mother Annie Martin was born in 1862 at Radord they were married in 1890 at Nottingham, they went on to have 5 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood, their children were John b1893, George b1894, Annie b1899 and Harry Wright b1906 all were born in Radford. In the 1911 census the family lived at 1 Bloom Yard Bloomsgrove Street New Radford Nottingham and were shown as George 50 yrs a lace maker, he is living with his wife Annie 49 yrs and their children John 18 yrs a bicycle maker, George 17 yrs a bicycle maker, Annie 12 yrs a scholar and Harry 5 yrs of age.

Military History

Private John Wright enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2/5th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 26th August 1917 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium Panel 99-102.
