Albert Wilson was born in 1896 at Radford and was the son of Richard Barker a coal miner hewer and Ruth Wilson (née Cannity) of 47 Redoubt Street, Radford, Nottingham. His father Richard Barker Wilson was born in 1875 at Sutton in Ashfield, his mother Ruth Cannity was born in 1877 at Radford, they were married in 1895 at Nottingham and went on to have the following children, Albert b1896, George b1900, Hilda b1905,May b1908, , Evelyn b1910 and Arthur b1920. In the 1911 census the family lived at 47, Redoubt Street Old Radford, Nottingham with Richard's widowed mother Jane and were shown as Jane Wilson 54 yrs a widow char woman she is living with her married son Richard 36 yrs a coal miner hewer, his wife Ruth 34 yrs and their children, Albert 15 yrs an errand boy, George 11 yrs a scholar, Hilda 6 yrs, May 3 yrs and Evelyn 8 months old. .
Private Albert Wilson enlisted on 6th May 1912 at Nottingham, giving his age as 17 yrs and 2 months, his address was 47 Redoubt Street, Radford, his occupation was that of a cycle polisher for Raleigh his next of kin was his father Richard Wilson of the same address. He served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment Robin Hood Riffles and was embodied for war on the 5th August 1914. He landed in France on 28th February 1915 and was killed during the very costly attack on the Hohernzollern Redoubt during the Battle of Loos. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial Dud Corner Panel 87 to 89
