He was the son of Robert and Susan Nix of 13 Ledger Yard Ilkeston Road Nottingham. He was the husband of Florence Nix and the father of Arthur, May, Frederick, Hilda and Florence Nix. In 1911 they lived at 1 Pine Terrace Ledger Yard.
Gunner William Nix, 2/1st (Berkshire) Battery, 158th Brigade Royal Horse Artillery, was killed in action on 2nd April 1918 at Arras. He is buried in Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun.
Death notice published 22nd April 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “NIX. – Killed in action, April 2nd, 1918, Gunner William Nix, aged 34. Thy will be done. – From his loving mother, dad, brothers Jim, Harry (with the colours), sister Eliza Ann, Ada, and Jim.” In memoriam published 2nd April 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “NIX. – In loving memory of our son and brother, William Nix, killed in action April 2nd, 1918.
