Family History

He was the son of Edward and Frances James and the brother of Louisa James. In 1911 they lived at 2 Radford Boulevard Nottingham. He was the husband of Mabel (née Place) James of 29 Salisbury Street Old Radford Nottingham whom he married in 1915 at Nottingham.

Military History

Private Ernest James, enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Radford, he served with the 1/4th Battalion Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment), he died of influenza on 21st October 1918. He is buried in Ferozepore Military Cemetery, India.

Death notice published 9th November 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “JAMES. – Died abroad, October 21st, from influenza, Pte. Ernest James, West Surrey Regt.
