John James Hollis

John James Hollis was born in 1889 at Nottingham and was the son of Henry a boot maker and repairer and Charlotte Hollis née Clifton of 181, Denman Street, Radford, Nottingham. His father was born in 1865 at Walesby his mother Charlotte Clifton was born in 1860 at Worksop, they were married in 1884 at Nottingham and went on to have 15 children, sadly 4 died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children all born in Nottingham were, William Henry b1886, John James b1889, Lottie b1891, Richard Clifton b1892, Sydney b1894, Sarah Annie b1895, Jessie b1899, Ethel Clara b1900, Mary Ann b1902, Violet b1903 and Robert Clifton b1905. In the 1911 census the family were living at 181 Denman Street, Nottingham and were shown as Henry Hollis 46 yrs a boot maker and repairer, he is living with his wife Charlotte 51 yrs and their children, William Henry 25 yrs a drapers traveller, John James 22 yrs a lace warehouse clerk, Lottie 20 yrs mothers help, Richard Clifton 19 yrs a blouse cutter, Sydney 17 yrs a lace warehouse cutter, Sarah Annie 16 yrs a card board box maker, Jessie 12 yrs a scholar, Ethel Clara 11 yrs a scholar, Mary Ann 9 yrs a scholar, Violet 8 yrs a scholar and Robert Clifton 6 yrs of age.
