James Augustus Hill was born in 1876 in Huntingdon, he married his wife Ellen Annie Hill née Sanson in 1901 at Nottingham, they had a son Bernard James Hill born 1906 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family lived at 37 Citadel Street and were shown as James Augustus 35 yrs a carter, he is living with his wife Ellen Annie 35 yrs and their son Bernard James 5 yrs , her daughter Hilda May Sanson 13 yrs and his father in law George Sanson 63 yrs a labourer. they later lived at 13 Osborne Street, Radford Nottingham.

Military History

Private James Hill originally served with the service number 13162 with A Company 15th battalion Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) later trasfering to Royal Defence Corps he died on 7th October 1919 and is buried at the Nottingham General Cemetery
