George Christopher Fisher was born in 1890 at Walsall and was the son of George Steven Fisher and Mary Ann Fisher néé Tunney His father George Steven was born in 1858 at Wolverhampton and died in 1913 aged 55 yrs, his mother Mary Ann Tunney was born in 1859 also at Wolverhampton, they were married in 1877 at St Thomas's Church Birmingham, they went on have the following children, Catherine b1878, Alfred Thomas b1886 both born at Wolverhampton and George Christopher b1890 at Walsall. George Christopher married his wife Hilda May Reed (born 3rd March 1893) in 1915 in Nottingham they lived at 7 Cobden Street, Nottingham and went on to have a daughter Hilda May born 18th March 1915. In the 1911 census George Christopher is shown living at 81 Waterway Street West, Nottingham he is 20 yrs of age and a meat salesman he is boarding with Ernest Noble 33 yrs a mechanic and his family. Following his death his widow Hilda May was awarded a pension of 20 shillings a week which commenced on 31st December 1917.
Private George Christopher Fisher enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 32262 in the Machine Gun Corps, later transferring to the Tank Corps, he was killed in action on 3rd May 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
