Ernest Leonard Adams was born in 1893 the son of Andrew Thomas a coal miner hewer and Emily Adams née Haycock of 3, Lord St., Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts. Andrew Thomas was born in 1862 at Green Norton, Northamptonshire, Emily Haycock was born in 1863 at Green Norton, married in 1884 at Towcester and had children, Joseph William b1887, Bertie b1891, Ernest Leonard b1893 and Alice b1895.
Private Ernest Leonard Adams enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield, he was killed in action on 3rd October 1918 and is buried at Guizan Court Farm Cemetery Gouy, France.
