Frederick was born in 1857 in Albrighton, Staffordshire he married his wife Annie Louisa Cotton in Nottingham in 1878 they lived at 17 Constance Street. They had 5 children , sadly 4 of whom died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving child was Edward b1886 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 92 Sneinton Blvd, Nottingham and are shown as Fred 53 yrs a grocer, he is living with his wife Annie Louisa 51 yrs (born 1860 Sheffield) and his mother Jane Wilkinson 79 yrs a widow.
Company Quartermaster Sergeant Frederick Wilkinson, enlisted at Nottingham, formerly serving with service number 7241 in the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment was serving with 519th Home Service Employment Company, Labour Corps, when he died of chronic bronchitis and syncope at Morton Banks War Hospital, Keighley, on 20th December 1917.He is buried in Nottingham General Cemetery.(grave ref 9241FF).
Nottingham Post notice (abridged) 20 December 1917: 'Wilkinson. December 20th in hospital, CQMS Wilkinson (Fred), husband of AL Wilkinson, 17 Constance Street.' In memoriam published 20th December 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- WILKINSON. – In loving memory of C.Q.M.S.
