Family History

Albert Victor Mottershead was born in 1888 at Nottingham the son of Samuel a lace dyer and Mary Mottershead (née Walmsley). His father was born in 1845 iat Macclesfield, Cheshire and died in 1905 in Nottingham aged 61. His mother was born in 1853 at Derby and died in 1918 aged 65. They were married in 1871 in Derby and had 11 children, 3 of whom died in infancy or early childhood. Their children listed on the 1891 -1911 Censuses were Samuel b.1874 Macclesfield, Lily b.1876 Nottingham, John b.1878 Nottingham, Clara b.1881 Nottingham, Harry b.1882 Nottingham, Albert Victor b.18888 Nottingham, Lawrence b.1891 Nottingham and Cecila b.1894 Nottingham. In 1911 Albert’s widowed mother and family lived at 45 Leen Side, Nottingham. Lawrence was a lace maker and Celia a French polisher. Albert was in barracks at Hanover Square in 1911.
