Arthur Septimus Foster

Arthur Septimus Foster was born in 1895 in Skegby and was the son of John a cab proprietor and Lettice Foster née Smith of Morley Street, Stanton Hill. His father John was born in 1860 in Thringstone, Leicestershire and his mother Lettice Smith was born in 1859 in Darley Dale Derbyshire, they were married in 1881 their marriage was recorded in the Bakewell Registration District , they had 8 children Annie b1882 Darley Dale, Horseley b1884 Skegby, Carl Lawrence B1886 Skegbyl, James Harold b1888 Skegby,Harold b1889 Skegby, Oswald b1890 Skegby, Cecil b1893 Skegby and Lettie Foster b1899 Skegby. In 1911 the family lived on Morley Street Stanton Hill and are shown as John 51 yrs a cab proprietor, he is living with his wife Lettice 52 yrs and their children, Crl Lawrence 25 yrs a colliery banksman, James Harold 23 yrs a coal miner, Harold 21 yrs a colliery banksman, Cecil 18 yrs a carter, Arthur 15 yrs a grocers assistant, Lettice 12 yrs a scholar. He married Harriett Boultby (born 23rd April 1893 ) in 1915 at Nottingham, and they lived at 10 Hampton Terrace, Walker Street, Sneinton Nottinghamshire they went on to have a son Arthur born 15th December 1916. Following his death his widow Harriett was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 16th July 1917.
