Ernest Gamwell

Ernest Gamwell was born in 1894 at Gringley on the Hill and was the son of the late George Richard a waggoner on a farm and Harriett Gamwell née Carver of Gilby Cottages Pilham Gainsborough. His father George Richard was born in 1858 in Yaddlestone, Lincolnshire and his mother Harriett Carver was born in 1863 in Thonock, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1879 their marriage was recorded in the Gainsborough Registration District, they went on to have 11 children, Alice Ellen b1880 Addlesthorpe Lincolnshire, Louisa Jane b1883 Thonock, Lincolnshire , their remaning children were all born in Gringley on the Hill , Nottinghamshire and were Fanny Caroline 1885, John William b1887, George Richard b1890, Margaret b1892, Ernest b1894, Walter b1897, Charles Edgar b1898, Wilfred Henry b1902, and Thomas Edward b1905 at Blyton. The family were living at Kirton Road, Blyton, Gainsborough in the 1911 census and are shown as George Richard 53 yrs a waggoner on a farm, he is living with his wife Harriettt 48 yrs and their children, Walter 14 yrs, Charles Edgar 13 yrs, Wilfred Henry 9 yrs and Thomas Edward 6yrs. In the 1911 census Ernest has left home, he is living on farm at Walkeringham, he is living with Dick Benson 33 yrs a farmer and his family, he is shown as 16 yrs single and a waggoner on a farm
