Family History

Frank Hill was born in 1888 in Dunkirk and was the son of the late Francis a labourer and Abigail Hill née Husby of 42 Sussex Square, Harrington Street, Nottingham. His father Francis was born in 1851 in Nottingham and died in 1893 also in Nottingham he was 42 yrs of age, his mother Abigail Husby was born in 1847 in Bedworth Warwickshire, they were married in 1871 in Nottingham, Abigail brought a child to the marriage Thomas Husby born 1867 in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 42 Sussex Square, Harrington Street, Nottingham and are shown as Abigail 64 yrs a widow and cop winder, she is living with her son Frank 23 yrs a railway porter also at the address is a lodger Isabel Blackwell 59 yrs single a lace worker.

Military History

Private 84032 Frank Hill, attested under the Derby Scheme on 11th December 1915 he gave his age as 28 yrs and 2 months and his address as 42 Sussex Square, Nottingham, he gave his occupation as a railway porter and his next of kin as his mother Abigail of the same address. Posted to the reserves he was mobilised on 11th August 1916 he served with the Agricultural Company Depot, Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment. He was transferred to class ‘W’ reserves on 27th April 1917 and he died on 27th August 1917. He is buried in Nottingham General Cemetery.
