Henry Dolby Wright was born on 4th May 1876 and was the son of the late William Henry a publican and Mary Wright née Freeman He married his wife Gertrude Rasdall at Farnsfield in 1906 she was living at 1082, Richmond Avenue, Victoria, British Columbia at the time of his death. In the 1911 census Henry and his family are living in Farnsfield and are shown as Henry Dolby Wright 34 yrs a joiner/builder, he is living with his wife Gertrude 26 yrs and their daughter Doris Gertrude 4 yrs (born Farnsfield)

Sapper Henry Dolby Wright enlisted on 22nd June 1916 at North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He gave his age as 39 yrs and 10 months and his address as 163 Olive Street, Victoria, British Columbia, he stated he was a carpenter and that his next of kin was his wife Gertrude of the Red Lion Hotel, Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire. He served with the No 4 District Canadian Forestry Corps Canadian Engineers and died on 1st August 1920 and is buried at Victoria (Ross Bay) Cemetery, British Columbia, Canada.
