Arthur Hallgarth Stockwell

Pte. Arthur Hallgath Stockwell, 46th Canadian Infantry Battalion, married Mabel Annie Sandbrook on 24th March 1916. “STOCKWELL – SANDBROOK. – On the 24th March, at Musters-road Wesleyan Church, by the Rev. Wildblood, Private Arthur H. Stockwell, 46th Battalion Canadians, sixth son of the late Henry Stockwell, Sproxton Manor, Leicestershire, to Mabel Annie, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alf. Sandbrook, 9, Stratford-road, West Bridgford.” Above marriage notification published 25st March 1916 in the Nottingham Evening Post and is courtesy of Jim Grundy and his facebook pages Small Town Great War Hucknall 1914-1918 . He enlisted on 5th July 1915 in Canada and embarked from Halifax, Canada, on 21st October 1915 and disembarked Devonport on 30th October 1915. He landed in France on 17th June 1916 and was killed in action between 4th & 7th September 1916. (Canadian ASR). He has no known grave and his name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial.
