Family History

Robert Maltby was the 2nd son of Robert Bingley Maltby and his wife, Martha on 30/6/1894 in Sheffield. The family was a Sheffield based family but arrived in Blyth around 1906 where he attended school. By 1911 the family were no longer residents of Blyth . Robert senior, was living as a boarder in Burslem, Staffs working as a cinema theatre manager, (He died the following year)., his wife registered in the Clarendon Hotel, Harrogate. Robert junior, was working in a large department store on Castle St., Sheffield, as an apprentice drapers assistant. Older brother George was now married and living in Scotland. Robert MAY have been the Robert Maltby who went to Canada on the 7th April 1915 as he did at some time enlist in the Canadian Infantry 6th Battalion, Manatoba Regiment.

He is buried in Crouy british cemetery , Crouy-Sur-Somme, France , grave reference IV C 1
