William Stanley Harpham was born in 1897 in Ruddington and was the son of George Ernest a bricklayers labourer and Clara Harpham née Hallam of Grand View Addition South Hill Moose Jaw Saskatchewan Canada. His father George was born in 1874 in Ruddington and his mother Clara Hallam was born in 1873 also in Ruddington, they were married in 1894 in Nottingham and went on to have the following children, Mabel b1896, William b1897 and Annie b1901, all the children were born in Nottingham. In the 1901 census the family are living at Church Street, Ruddington. The family emigrated to Canada prior to the 1911 census.
Private William Stanley Harpham, 50th Canadian Infantry Battalion, was killed in action on 3rd June 1917, a year to the day since his attestation. He is buried in La Chaudiere Military Cemetery, Vimy.
Death notice published 24th October 1917 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “HARPHAM. – Killed in action, June 3rd, 1917, Private W.
