Frank was born in 1890 in Calow, Derbyshire and was the son of Samuel a gardener and Mary E. Bennett, of 10, Newton St., Retford, Notts, In the 1911 census, the family are living at New Road, Holymoorside, Chesterfield, they state they have had 5 children and still living with them at the time of the census was Frank 21 years of age single and a gardener and his younger brother Ernest 12 years. Frank is shown as sailing from the Port of Liverpool on 19th April 1913 on the ship 'Teutonic' which was sailing to Quebec, Canada, he is shown as Frank Bennett 24 years , gardener.

Military History

He served with the Alberta Regiment, Canadian Infantry, he is commemorated on the Menin Gate memorial at Ypres, Belgium
