Family History

Archibald Corah was born in 1899 he was baptised on 10th April 1905 at Longford, Derbyshire, he was the son of Charles a collier and Emily Corah née Cartlidge and the brother of Charles Richard (killed in action 11/8/1917), Lomas, Doris and Wilfred Corah. Charles was born in 1856 at Shepshed, Leicestershire , Emily Cartlidge was born in 1857 at Smisby, Leicestershire, they were married in 1887 their marriage was recorded in the Loughborough registration district. His mother Emily married in 1911 to Benjamin Davies. In 1911 the family lived at 12 Stoneford Lane Stanton Hill Nottinghamshire. His step brother Benjamin Davies was also killed in action 19/7/1916.

Military History

Private Archibald Corah enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Skegby, he served with The Buffs (East Kent Regiment , he was killed in action on 22nd August 1918 and is buried at Becourt Military Cemetery, Becordel-Bercourt.

Extra Information

His brother Gunner Charles Richard Corah enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Skegby he served with the 3rd battery 110th brigade, Royal Filed Artillery, he died of wounds on 11th August 1917 and is buried at Bedford House Cemetery near Ypres Grave Reference: Enclosure 2 II C 27
