Family History

Horace Timms was born in 1896 the son of Thomas a hairdresser and Alicia Timms née Hardy, the brother of Mary Elsie, Wilfrid, Richard Lewis, Fanny, Lilian Rebecca, Amy Grace and Harry Charles Timms. They lived at Handstubbin Selston Nottinghamshire. Thomas was born in 1863 at Codnor Park and Alicia was born in 1867 at Selston, married in 1884 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district they had 11 childre, 2 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family are living at Handstubbin, Selston.

Military History

Private Horace Tmms enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Selston, he landed in France on 28th September 1915 and was killed in action on 17th February 1916. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
