Harry Stanley Lane was born in 1899 at Nottingham, he was the son of Harry a tailor and Ellen Lane née Neale of 84, Blue Bell Hill, Nottingham. His father Harry was born in 1873 at Nottingham, his mother Ellen Neale was born in 1875 at Nottingham, they were married in 1897 at Nottingham, they had a further son Arthur Frederick born 1908 in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 131 Blue Bell Hill, Nottingham and are shown as Harry 38 yrs a tailor he is living with his wife Ellen 36 yrs and their sons, Harry Stanley 11 yrs a scholar and Arthur Frederick 3 yrs of age.

Military History

Private Harry Stanley Lane enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 5th battalion Alexandra Princess of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 11th April 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial
