Family History

Harry Winrow Hardy was born in 1888 at Nottingham, he was the son of Henry Walter and Emma Hardy and the brother of Harriet, and Selina Hardy. In 1901 they lived at 20 Peas Hill Road Nottingham. He married Mary Bridget Harris (born 5th November 1890) in Nottingham in 1913 they went on to have a son Harry Winrow Hardy born 25th February 1914 Commencing 21st June 1915 his widow was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week she was living at 8 Kearney's Avenue, Cork.

Military History

Private Harry Winrow Hardy, served with 'D' Company, 2nd Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He landed in France on 10th August 1914 was killed in action on 18th November 1914. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Panel 47
