Born c 1889 at Burton Joyce. Son of Jarvis and Emma Hubbard of Burton Joyce, Nottingham. In 1891 Jarvis and Emma were living at Lawtons Yard on Lambley Lane in Burton Joyce. Jarvis was a farm labourer and they had two daughters and two sons. The family were still living on Lambley Lane in 1901 but now had an additional son and daughter. In 1907 he was an engine cleaner according to his attestation papers. By 1911 after a very short spell in the army Henry had moved away from home to a farm at Edwalton where he was working as a waggoner, his parents and two siblings remained at Burton Joyce. He was the husband of Edith Hubbard of 4,Franchise Terrace, Westminster St, Nottingham
On 19 December 1907 at Nottingham, aged 18 years and 5 months , Henry attested into the York & Lancaster Regiment as Private 9006. His service was to be short lived as according to his Service Record he was unlikely to make an efficient soldier and was discharged on 19th Feb 1908 due to a hernia. When war broke out he re enlisted and served with the 1/4th battalion The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment . He died of his wounds on 5th May 1918 and is buried in Lapugnoy Military cemetery in the Pas de Calais region of France. He was eligible for the British and Victory medals
