He was the son of Joseph and Eliza Munton and the brother of William Abraham, Grace Ellen, Albert, Elsie, Leslie and Evelyn Munton. In 1911 they lived at 57 Bombay Street Nottingham.

Military History

Formerly 4701 9th Bn Sherwood Foresters with whom he served on Gallipoli with, entering theatre on 6 September 1915 and arrived at Suvla on 14 September. On 22 April 1918, the 7th Lincoln's were on the Somme attempting to halt the German advance and taking heavy casualties. John has no known grave and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial.
