Thomas Edward Hawkins was born in 1894 he was the son of Samuel a coke worker and Emma Hawkins née Parkin and the brother of Arthur and Cecil Douglas Hawkins of Ash Cottage, Selston Samuel was born in 1872 at Ripley, Emma Parkin was born in 1872 at Belper, they were married in 1894 their marriage was recorded in the Belper registration district, they had 3 children. In 1911 the family lived on Station Road Selston Samuel 39 yrs is a coke worker, he is living with his wife Emma 39 yrs and their 3 children including Thomas Henry 16 yrs a coke worker

Military History

Private Thomas Edward Hawkins enlisted at Hucknall whilst residing at Selston, he served with 7th battalion South Staffordshire Regiment. He died of wounds on 7th July 1917 and is buried at Bailleul Communal Cemetery, Nord, France.
