He was the son of Samuel and Sarah Ann Walker and the husband of Sarah Elizabeth Walker of 57 Corporation Road, St Ann's, Nottingham (CWGC). He was the eldest of four surviving children (Clarence, Frank, Stanley and Hilda); his parents had had two children who had not survived infancy. His father had been born in Lambley but later lived and worked in Nottingham. In 1891 Clarence was living with his parents and his two younger brothers Frank (3) and Stanley (1) at 2 Ashover Terrace, St Ann's. By 1901 the family had moved to 71 Manning Street, Sneinton, and the boys had a sister, Hilda (8). Clarence married Sarah Elizabeth (nee Kilbourne) in 1908 and at the time of the 1911 Census they were living on Standhill Road, Carlton, with their daughter, Constance Hilda. Later they lived at 57 Corporation Road (CWGC). His younger brother, Corporal Frank Walker, served in Royal Engineers (Postal Section) and was killed a month after Clarence on 30 May 1917 (Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension). Clarence's father died on 2 March 1930 aged 77 and his mother the following year on 18 April 1931 aged 71.
Formerly 68997 Sherwood Foresters. His death was presumed to be 28 April 1917; he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial. He qualified for the British War Medal and Victory Medal.

Also of Cpl Frank Walker REPS [Royal Engineers Postal Section], died at Abbeville May 30th 1917 aged 29 years. Beloved sons of the above.'
