He was born in 1890, the son of William and Mary E Cavers and was the older brother of Nellie (Ellen) and Fred Cavers. In 1911 they lived at 10 Agnes Terrace, Dame Agnes Street, Nottingham, where they had lived at the time of the two previous census. William was the husband of Nellie Cavers (nee Nettleship), whom he married in 1912 (registered Jul/Aug/Sep). They lived at 5 Lewis Street, Alfred Street, Nottingham (CWGC). His widow was awarded a pension for herself and her children, George W. (birth registered Oct/Nov/Dec 1912), Doris E. (birth registered July/Aug/Sep 1914) and Hilda E. (birth registered Oct/Nov/Dec 1916).
Private William Culley Cavers, 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment, was killed in action on 22nd March 1918, He is buried in Cambrin Military He qualified for the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
Obituary published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 22nd March 1919:- “CAVERS. – In loving memory of my dear husband, Pte. William Culley Cavers, 3/7th Sherwood Foresters, killed in action March 22nd, 1918. Also of our dear son William Cavers.
