Albert Coombes was born in 1896 the son of the late Joseph a lace curtain maker and Eliza Coombes née Gilbert and the brother of Ada, Nellie, Arthur, Sarah, Frank and Ethel Coombes of 34 Grimston, Nottingham Joseph Coombes was born in 1854 at Lenton, he died in 1904 aged 50 yrs, Eliza Gilbert was born in 1858 at Beeston, married in 1880 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had 9 children. Military History

Private Albert Coombes served with the Tank Corps at their central workshops. He died on 14th January 1919 in Hampstead Military Hospital of pneumonia and he is buried at the Nottingham General Cemetery.
