William Barlow was born in 1882 at Nottingham the son of Robert a lace machine maker and the late Clara Barlow née Bestwick of 43 BIrkin Ave, Hyson Green. Robert was born in 1852 at Nottingham Clara Bestwick was born in 1852 in France, she died in 1907 aged 55 yrs, married in 1877 at Nottingham they had children, Lizzie, Annie and Clara Barlow. In 1911 they lived at 43 Birkin Avenue Hyson Green Nottingham Robert is 59 yrs a widow and a lace machine maker William is 29 yrs a levers lace draughtsman.

Military History

Private William Barlow enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 39077 in the Lincolnshire Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 12th April 1917 and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
