Family History

Edward Williamson was born in 1884 the son of John Edward, a coal miner, and Elizabeth Williamson (née Kenney) of Lenton. Edward's parents were born at Radford, John Edward in 1850, Elizabeth in 1851. Married 6/8/1871, they had four other children - Elizabeth Ann b.1873, Alfred Henry b.1875, Mary b.1878 and Helen b.1880. The family lived at 15 Gibbon Street, Lenton in 1891 and by 1901 were living at 20 Friar Street, Lenton, Nottingham. Alfred’s mother Elizabeth died in 1903 aged 53. By the 1911 Census, Edward lived at Shirebrook Derbyshire with his brother Alfred Henry and family.

Military History

In Memoriam published 4th March 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post: “WILLIAMSON. – In loving memory of my dear brother, Pte. Edward Williamson, killed in action March 4th, 1917.
