Family History

He was the son of George and Jane Stevenson and the brother of Walter, Clara, Gertie, Ethel and Albert Stevenson. In 1901 they lived at 62 Moorgate Street Ilkeston Road Radford Nottingham.

Military History

Private Henry Stevenson, initially served with the Sherwood Foresters and later transferred to the 2nd Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment, he was taken prisoner at Kut on 29th April 1916. Confirmed to be in Turkish hands on 24th June 1916, he died on 7th October 1916.

Extra Information

His brother Private Walter Stevenson, served with the 2nd Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, he was wounded and taken prisoner on 20th October 1914. Nottingham Evening Post Roll of Honour (abridged) 7/8/1917: 'Stevenson. Missing since the fall of Kut, now reported dead on 7th October 1916 Private H Stevenson Dorset Regiment. - From his sorrowing mother, brothers and sisters, also his brother Walter in Germany.'
