Thomas Hardiman was born in 1892 the son of the late Martin a labourer and Mary Ann Hardiman née Askey and the brother of Michael and Rose Hardiman. They lived at 3 Bedford Square Hyson Green Nottingham. Martin was born in 1849 in Ireland, he died in 1899 aged 50 yrs, Mary Ann Askey was born in 1851 at Derby, they were married on 13th August 1870 at St Marys, Derby, they went on to have 11 children, sadly 4 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived at 3 Bedford Square, Hyson Green, Mary Ann 60 yrs is a widow she is living with 3 of her children, Michael 33 yrs a brick layers labourer, Thomas 19 yrs a fitters labourer and Rose 18 yrs a factory packer.
Rifleman Thomas Hardiman, served with the 9th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps, he landed in France on 21st May 1915 and was killed in action on 30th July 1915. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate
