Henry Stanley Hodgkinson was born in 1886 the son of Henry Truman a lace maker and Eliza Ann Hodgkinson (née Greasley) who died in 1902 aged 51. His father was born in 1847 Basford and his mother in 1852 at Nottingham. Married in 1876 at Radford, they had six children. Henry’ siblings surviving infancy were Mabel b.1878, Florence b.1882, Clarice b.1885 and Kate Lilian b1890. All the children were born at Nottingham. In 1911 the family lived at 2 Laurel Avenue Dame Ahnes Street Nottingham. Henry’s father worked in the lace industry and Kate was a machinist.
73rd Coy Harry Stanley Hodgkinson enlisted at Nottingham and initially served (19683) in the Leicestershire Regiment before transferring to the Machine Gun Corps.
