William Saxton Chambers

William Saxton Chambers was born in 1897 at Eastwood and he was the son of John Saxton a joiner and Alice Chambers née Buckley of Kimberley Yard, Kimberley, Nottinghamshire. His father William Saxton was born in 1864 at Eastwood and his mother Alice Buckley was born in 1870 at Greasley, they were married in 1890, their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration District they had nine children all of whom were given the middle name Saxton their fathers middle name, they were Elizabeth b1891 Eastwood, Thomas Henry Saxton b1892 Eastwood, William Saxton b1897 Eastwood. Sidney Saxton b1900 Eastwood, Barbara Saxton b1902 Eastwood, Horace Saxton b1904 Arnold. Edgar Saxton b1906 Arnold, Alvin Victor Saxton b1909 Kimberley, and Albert Saxton b1912 Kimberley. In the 1911 census the family were living at Kimberley Yard, Kimberley and were shown as John Saxton Chambers 47 yrs an unemployed joiner, he is living with his wife Alice 41 yrs and their children, Elizabeth S 20 yrs no employment listed, Thomas Henry S 18 yrs a pony driver at collier, William S 14 yrs a pony driver at collier, Sidney S 11 yrs a scholar, Barbara S 9yrs a scholar, Horace S 7yrs a scholar, Edgar 5 yrs a scholar and Alvin Victor S 2 yrs. His father John Saxton Chambers died in 1917 aged 54 yrs the death was recorded in the Basford Registration District.
