Frank William Dable was born in 1897 at Nottingham, he was the only child of Francis William a hotel cellar man and Lucy Dable née Challand of 12 Grosvenor Place, Nottingha. Francis William was born in 1869 at Screveton, Lucy Challand was born in 1876 at Linby, they were married in 1893 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district. In the 1911 census the family are living at 12 Grosvenor Place, Nottingham, Francis William is 41 yrs and is a hotel cellarman, he is living with his wife Lucy 35 yrs and their son Frank 14 yrs a fruiterers errand boy He was employed at Thomas Foreman’s Printing Works, Hucknall Road, Nottingham, prior to enlisting

Military History

Private Frank William Dable enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1st battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action by German shellfire, 27th June 191, whilst serving in the trenches near Bullay Grenay, France. Buried: Loos British Cemetery, France. Plot 19. Row G. Grave 11.
