Family History

Henry James Hebditch was born on 5th February 1882 at Nottingham, he was the son of Henry a lace curtain maker and Treziah Coles of 22 Manor Street, Sneinton, Nottingham. His father Henry was born in 1858 at Nottingham, his mother Treziah Coles was born in 1858 at Chard, Somerset, they were married on 1st March 1879 at St Matthias Church, Sneinton, they had two further children, Ellen born 1880 and Adelaide born 1885 both were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 22 Manor Street, Sneinton, Nottingham, Henry is 53 yrs and is a lace curtain maker he is living with his wife Treziah 53 yrs and their children, Ellen 31 yrs Henry 26 yrs and Adelaide 21 yrs.

Military History

Private Henry James Hebditch enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, he died of wounds on 14th October 1916. He is buried in Grove Town Cemetery, Meaulte.

Death notification published 21st October 1916 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “HEBDITCH. – Died of wounds, Oct. 14th, 1916, Private Harry Hebditch, Lancashire Fusiliers, only beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. H.
