Family History

Henry Wootton was born in 1894 at Nottingham and was the son of George a printer and Sarah Wootton née James of 3 Liddington Road, New Basford, Nottingham. His father was born in 1864 at Nottingham and his mother Sarah James was born in 1865 at Nottingham, they were married in 1882 in Nottingham and had 12 children, sadly six died in infancy or early childhood, their following children, Clara b1886, George b1889, Alfred b1892, Henry b1894, Edward b1895 and Martha b1897 were all born in Nottingham. In 1911 they lived at 45 Young Street Blue Bell Hill St Ann's Nottingham, but later they moved to 11 Alfred Terrace, Nottingham (Evening Post December 4, 1916) and 3 Liddington Road, New Basford, Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 45 Young Street, Nottingham and are shown as George 47 yrs a printer, he is living with his wife Sarah 46 yrs and their children, George 22 yrs no occupation listed, Alfred 19 yrs a drapers assistant, Henry 17 yrs a box maker, Edward 16 yrs a printer and Martha 14 yrs a blouse machinist.

Military History

Private Henry Wooton enlisted at Ilkeston and served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 26th October 1916 and is buried at Faubourg D'Amiens Cemetery Arras
