John Henry Hall

John Henry Hall was born in 1880 at Radford, Nottingham and was the son of Walter a coal merchant and Kate (Ellen) Hall née Stone of North End, Farndon, Newark. His father Walter was born 1851 at Swanwick, Derbyshire and his mother Ellen Stone was born in 1870 at Nottingham, they were married on 31st December 1872 at Swanwick and went on to have 12 children, sadly 5 died in infancy or early childhood, their children were William b1874 Swanwick, Sarah b1878 Swanwick, Mary b1879 Swanwick, John Henry b1880 Radford, Walter b1883 Radford, Charles b1884 Radford, Sarah b1889 Radford, Edith b1890 Radford and Ernest b1894 Radford. John Henry Hall married his wife Sarah Ann White (born 31st August 1883 at St Ann's Nottingham) in 1905 at Nottingham, they lived at Main Street, Farndon and had the following children, Hilda Rebecca born 18th April 1906, Florence Ellen born 7th July 1907, Ava Annie born 5th October 1908 and Doris Gertrude born 7th February 1914. In the 1911 census his parents are living at Church Lane, Balderton and are shown as Walter 60 yrs a market gardener he is living with his wife Kate 41 yrs and their son Ernest 17 yrs an engine erector.He was the husband of Sarah Ann Hall of Main Street, Farndon, Newark. In the same 1911 census John Henry and his family are living at 118 New Annesley, Nottingham and are shown as John Henry 30 yrs a coal miner he is living with is wife Sarah Ann 27 yrs and their children, Florence Ellen 3 yrs and Eva Annie 2 yrs of age. Following his death his widow was awarded a pension of 28 shillings and 9 pence a week from 1st April 1918.
