Family History

Harold Walter Horton was born in 1892 in Nottingham and was the son of the late Christopher a brewers cooper and Margaret Horton née Cullen of 16 Moreland Street Meadow Lane Nottingham. His father was born in 1867 in Derby , he died in Nottingham in 1913 aged 45 yrs and his mother Margaret Cullen was born in 1872 in Nottingham, they were married in 1890 in Nottingham and went on to have 5 children, sadly one died in infancy their surviving children , all born in Nottingham were, Harold Walter b1892, Ethel b1894, Elsie b1897 and Walter b1903. In the 1911 census the family are living at 16 Moreland Street, Nottingham and are shown as Margaret 39 yrs married, she is living with her children Harold Walter 19 yrs a brewery bottler, Ethel 17 yrs a lace finisher, Elsie 14 yrs a lace finIsher and Walter 8 yrs

Military History

Private Harold Walter Horton, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 12/13th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. He landed in France on 9th September 1915 and he died of wounds on 17th September 1918. He is buried in Bronfay Farm Military Cemetery, Bray-sur-Somme.
