He was the son of William and Mary Ellen Hobson and the brother of John William, Emma, Mabel and Sydney Hobson. In 1901 and 1911 they lived at 47 Robin Hood Street St Ann's Nottingham.
H.M.S. "President II." Air Mechanic 1st Class Frank Harold Hobson enlisted in the Royal Naval Air Service on 27th November 1914. He was a former engineer machine constructor. He went out to the Dardenelles on 11th September 1915. He was admitted to hospital on 6th October 1915 (HMS Grantally Castle) suffering from typhoid and was transferred via Malta to England. He was invalided from the service on 12th March 1916 and died in Nottingham on 13th March 1919. He is buried in Nottingham Church Cemetery.
