George Phillips was born in 1865 and married Harriett Owen (born 27th December 1866) in 1887 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had 6 children, sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood, their other surviving children were Lucy b1890, Lois b1894 and Alice b1896 all were born in East Kirkby In 1911 the family are living at 29 Gladstone Street, East Kirkby.

Military History

Sapper George Phillips enlisted at Blackwell, Worcestershire whilst residing at East Kirkby, he died of wounds on 16th November 1915 and is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium,
