Family History

He was the son of Thomas Stanley Birkin, a lace curtain manufacturer, and Margaret Diana Birkin and the brother of Henry Ralph Stanley, Margaret Ida Maud and Charles Archibald Cecil Birkin. In 1911 they lived at Aspley Hall Nottingham. Later Sir Thomas Birkin Bt. and the Hon. Lady Diana Birkin lived at Ruddington Grange near Nottingham.

Military History

Formerly 7th Dragoon Guards (Princess Royal's). He was killed following a flying accident while serving with 25 Squadron on 12th June 1917. He is buried in Lapugnoy Military Cemetery.
