Family History

Arthur Fletcher was the son of Arthur Herbert Fletcher a shop assistant and Harriett Fletcher née Parr (died 1911). His father was born at Lenton Nottingham in 1855 and his mother in 1865 also at Nottingham. They were married in 1884 at Nottingham and had a daughter Ethel Parr Fletcher who was born in 1890 at Nottingham. In 1901 census the family was living at 24 Wilford Grove Meadows Nottingham. In 1911 Arthur Herbert and Ethel were visiting Elizabeth Fox at 166 Ashley Road Bournemouth whilst Arthur was living with three aunts Sarah, Lydia and Rebecca at 52 Neville Street Nottingham.

Military History

Arthur Fletcher enlisted at Nottingham on 1st July 1913 into the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Special Reserve. He signed on for six years service and was posted to the 4th Battalion. He landed in France on 11th November 1914.
