Military History

7th Bn Walter Smith had served previously with York & Lancaster Regiment originally enlisting 28/8/1902. He attested for Great War service 5/9/1914. He collapsed in France and was pronounced dead at 37 CCS. A post mortem carried out by 20 Mobile Laboratory found he had died of acute heart failure as a result of endocarditis.

Avesnes-Le-Comte Communal Cemetery Extension On 17/12/1917 Selina Smith was awarded a weekly pension of 26/3d for herself and three children.
